About Our Research

The Centre for Modern Art & Theory focuses on a broad and dynamic field within the humanities, combining traditional approaches with modern methods and interdisciplinary perspectives. Our work covers a wide range of topics, from art history, architecture, and visual culture, to the cultural and historical contexts of Central Europe, as well as theoretical reflections on the relationship between science and art.

Members of the centre publish their research in prestigious international journals, scholarly collections, and monographs. In addition to their publications, they actively present their findings at both domestic and international conferences. Our experts also regularly organise lectures and workshops for the general public, aiming to make research accessible and to foster discussion on the role of art and culture in contemporary society.

Our research not only engages with cultural and historical phenomena but also contributes new theoretical insights and methodological approaches within the humanities. We place particular emphasis on critically reflecting on cultural phenomena within their social, political, and historical contexts.
