Visiting Research Fellowship
The Visiting Research Fellowship at the Centre for Modern Art & Theory is designed to support scholars engaged in research on modern and contemporary art, visual culture, aesthetics, design, and art criticism. The Fellowship provides a stimulating academic setting and fosters critical dialogue across disciplines, encouraging both individual research and collaboration.
Open to researchers at any stage of their academic career who hold a PhD in a relevant field, the Fellowship offers access to institutional resources, including university libraries, archives, museums, and cultural collections in Brno and the surrounding region. It also provides opportunities for intellectual exchange with the Centre’s academic community.
Fellows are expected to take an active part in the Centre’s scholarly life by contributing to its ongoing activities. This may include presenting their research in a public lecture or seminar, leading a workshop or Reading Group, or participating in Work In Progress sessions. Research proposals that engage with the Centre’s core interests – particularly those involving regional case studies, theoretical reflection, or interdisciplinary methods – are especially welcome.
The Fellowship provides a stipend intended to cover travel costs, accommodation, and living expenses during a stay of three to four weeks. While the total amount is fixed, fellows may choose to extend their stay at their own expense.
This programme offers an opportunity to pursue focused research while building connections within an international network of scholars working on questions central to the understanding of modern and contemporary visual culture.
