Matthew Rampley
Matthew is a Professor of Art History at Masaryk University. His research focuses on two main areas: the cultural politics of art and architecture in Central Europe from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, and questions of aesthetics, neuroscience, and the historiography of art.
His previous books include The Vienna School of Art History (2013), Liberalism, Nationalism and Design Reform in the Habsburg Empire (2020, with Nóra Veszprémi and Markian Prokopovyč), and The Museum Age in Austria-Hungary(2021, also with Nóra and Markian). He is currently leading research on the relationship between Czechs and colonialism as part of the project Czechs and the Colonial World: Design and Visual Culture since 1848.
