Jakub Straka

Jakub is a PhD student specialising in the artistic and cultural history of the 20th century, the history of totalitarian regimes, and related issues of trauma and memory. He received the Professor Milan Togner Award for his study Germans and Lidice: A Story of Art (2023).

His current research focuses on the period of political liberalisation in communist Czechoslovakia and cultural exchange with Western countries. Since 2018, he has been working as a specialist and project manager’s assistant at the organisation PAMĚŤ z.s.
