Anna Řičář Libánská

Anna (she/her) is a PhD student at the Centre for Ibero-American Studies, Charles University, and an activist. Her dissertation focuses on representations of the American Indigenous peoples (so-called "Indians") in Czech popular culture and cultural imagination between 1948 and 1989.

Her research interests include historical representations of otherness in Central European culture, with a particular focus on the Indigenous peoples of the Americas; the representation and history of gender and the body; and the history of colonialism and its reflection in contemporary society. Methodologically, she draws on contemporary decolonial and feminist theories.

Anna is also affiliated with the Centre for African Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, where she is currently collaborating on the publication of an anthology of Czech translations of decolonial feminist texts. She is also involved in the project Czechs and the Colonial World: Design and Visual Culture since 1848.
